Graptolite Boat Songs
These are some well-known songs with the lyrics brutally changed to include something about this boat. Most of the lyrics were made up for amusement while sailing across the Pacific Ocean during early 2008 while the original songs were being played on iPods. Later, Heiki turned her multi-skilled hand to being a music impresario and arranged for these, the best songs, to be more professionally sung and recorded.
Summer Of Graptolite. This song is based on Bryan Adam's 'Summer of '69' and was mangled on the long pasage between the Galapagos and the Marquesas. Lyrics by Heiki & Martyn.
On Me Yacht Graptolite. This song was also rewritten between the Galapagos and the Marquesas and is cutely based on 'Israelites' by Desmond Deckker. Lyrics by Heiki & Martyn.
On Graptolite. This is inspired by Roy Orbison's 'Blue Bayou' and was written while cruising French Polynesia. Lyrics by Heiki & Martyn.
I Sailed All Night On Graptolite. Another Roy Orbison song, 'I Drove All Night' Lyrics by Heiki cruising between Huahine and Raiatea in French Polynesia
Is This The Way To Graptolite. Based on Tony Christie's 'Is This The Way To Amarillo'. Lyrics by Heiki.also written between Huahine and Raiatea.
Lonesome Tonight On Graptolite. This is based on Elvis' 'Are You Lonesome Tonight'. Lyrics by Heiki & Martyn written while cruising the Cook Islands.
Graptolite Christmas. This song based on Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas' was written by Heiki in Hamelyn, Germany to round off the recording session with jazz singer Sonja Katharina Mross. The CD became my Christmas present in 2009.
